This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Acquire, configure, and maintain development, testing, and production servers.
• Provide support for development, testing, and production servers, including after-hours assistance and monitoring of server usage and uptime.
• Collaborate with vendors to procure equipment and software while adhering to audit and budgetary controls.
• Design, implement, and sustain high-performing, highly available systems in accordance with architectural specifications, service or operation level agreements, and industry best practices.
• Offer technical and procedural guidance for the implementation of network servers.
• Engage with internal users, development teams, technical personnel, departments, customers, and external stakeholders.
• Lead in complex problem-solving situations and identify opportunities for server-related process enhancements.
• Create and maintain documentation detailing server activity levels and necessary next steps.
• Deliver regular status updates, gather departmental requirements, and contribute to infrastructure product decisions.
• Provide technical support for voice and data network systems.
• Design and offer technical assistance for voice, instant messaging, meeting, and presence environments.
• Conduct server and security audits, backup procedures, and recovery processes aligned with disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality Assurance, and third-party data centers on network topologies, server configurations, deployments, firewall configurations, and administrative tasks.
• Ensure the timely delivery of hardware upgrades, network enhancements, and new configurations.
• Document technical specifications, develop and oversee project plans, and implement change control procedures.
• Facilitate design sessions and architectural reviews while participating in technical advisory roles.
• Mentor colleagues and promote a culture of learning and growth.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Networking or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining and supporting a Microsoft environment, including Azure, clustering, communications, storage, and virtualization technologies.
• Proficiency in provisioning, managing, monitoring, and decommissioning cloud services.
• Experience in automating infrastructure provisioning and management through scripting.
• Strong scripting capabilities.
• Understanding of multi-tier architectures, including load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking.
• Familiarity with RESTful API interface development.
• Basic knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with messaging and queuing services.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, and infrastructure automation.
• Advanced skills in engineering, administration, and maintenance of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices, and network management systems.
• Proven track record of managing and completing projects across various computing platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication and critical thinking abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure setting.
• Capability to conduct research into systems issues and products.
• On-call availability for approximately one week per month.
• Occasional travel between training locations may be required.
• Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged sitting, computer work, cable inspection, and lifting moderately heavy objects.
