IT Infrastructure and Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing global infrastructure that includes Windows Server 2022, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis, and Cloudflare across four different regions.

• Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of the mission-critical CloudToolz platform.

• Facilitate the deployment of CloudToolz releases that integrate with Dynamics, iMIS, Salesforce, and native CRM/CMS solutions.

• Participate in the Kubernetes migration process, which encompasses deployments, scaling, network policies, and RBAC.

• Develop and maintain a Grafana OSS observability stack featuring dashboards, alerts, metrics, logs, and traces.

• Provide assistance with DNS, CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection utilizing Cloudflare.

• Monitor system performance and engage in incident response and recovery efforts.

• Keep documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures up to date.

• Create shell scripts and small applications related to infrastructure, automation tools, monitoring utilities, and internal dashboards.

• Support identity and access management, endpoint security, and vulnerability management initiatives.

• Aid in the administration of Microsoft 365, Bitwarden, Bitdefender GravityZone, and KnowBe4 policies.

• Contribute to data protection policies aligned with GDPR/ISO 27001, security awareness training, phishing simulations, and threat monitoring/response.

• Provide support for Microsoft 365 administration across Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID.

• Assist with Salesforce administration as required.

• Share accountability for configuring endpoint security and password management.

• Offer insights on infrastructure scaling, architectural choices, and the containerization strategy.

• Promote the adoption of infrastructure-as-code and automate routine tasks using PowerShell, shell scripting, and other programming languages.

• Take part in sprint planning for environment-level requirements.

• Engage in on-call rotation and manage out-of-hours escalation duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud operations, systems administration, or DevOps roles.

• Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2022, SQL Server, MongoDB, and Redis in operational settings.

• Practical experience with Cloudflare regarding DNS, WAF, CDN, and security functionalities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, and SharePoint.

• Direct experience with Kubernetes focusing on workload deployment, basic cluster operations, ingress, network policies, and RBAC.

• Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, and access control mechanisms.

• Familiarity with GDPR and experience in supporting compliance controls.

• Ability to write shell scripts and program in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Eagerness to create small applications and tools related to infrastructure.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently within a distributed team across multiple time zones.

• Preferred: Experience with Grafana OSS, Prometheus, and Loki.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Docker, containerd, Helm, and kubectl.

• Preferred: Relevant certifications such as MCSA, CompTIA Security+, CKA, or equivalent.

• Preferred: Understanding of ISO 27001 audit/certification processes.

• Preferred: Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting tasks.

• Preferred: Experience with Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, CI/CD, or GitOps.

• Preferred: Background in Salesforce administration.
