IT Configuration Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead the enterprise configuration management practice, which encompasses CMDB strategy, governance, standards, policies, procedures, operating model, and roadmap execution.

• Supervise the quality, completeness, accuracy, reconciliation, relationship mapping, lifecycle management, and ongoing health metrics of CMDB data.

• Collaborate with ITSM process owners, service owners, infrastructure teams, application teams, security, audit, and asset management teams to define the scope, ownership, data requirements, and dependency relationships of configuration items.

• Support incident, problem, change, release, asset, risk, audit, and service management processes by providing reliable configuration data for impact analysis, reporting, and operational decision-making.

• Manage CMDB-related reporting, dashboards, controls, audits, compliance monitoring, and ongoing improvement activities.

• Lead, mentor, and develop team members responsible for configuration management operations, data stewardship, process execution, documentation, and stakeholder support.

• Evaluate and implement enhancements to the CMDB, including integrations, discovery improvements, service mapping capabilities, automation opportunities, and platform functionality.

• Facilitate annual business attestations related to business application data and attributes.

• Assume ownership of all tasks and challenges faced in the designated role.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field is required; equivalent work experience may be taken into account.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT Service Management, configuration management, CMDB administration, IT asset management, infrastructure operations, or a related technology discipline.

• Proven experience leading process improvement or governance initiatives.

• ITIL Foundation certification is preferred.

• ServiceNow certification, CMDB certification, or related ITSM/ITOM training is preferred.

• Strong understanding of ITIL practices, IT Service Management processes, configuration management principles, CMDB governance, data quality management, service mapping, discovery, and configuration item lifecycle management.

• Ability to lead cross-functional stakeholders, establish standards, influence process adoption, analyze data quality trends, communicate complex technical concepts, and drive continuous improvement in a complex enterprise environment.

• Proficient in communicating in person, over the phone, and through electronic channels.

• Capable of frequent computer use, including typing and maintaining sustained attention to a monitor.

• Ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods.

• Ability to bend and reach as needed.

• For remote work, the ability to maintain a secure and distraction-free environment with reliable internet; mobile hotspots are not acceptable.
