Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Evaluate complaints to determine risk levels and uncover potential conduct violations related to the College’s Code of Conduct, By-laws, and applicable legislation.

• Investigate reports and claims of professional misconduct.

• Gather, interpret, document, and safeguard pertinent information and evidence, including the acquisition and execution of production orders, subpoenas, and warrants.

• Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and licensees to support counsel, the Complaint Committee, and the Discipline Committee in establishing case facts.

• Coordinate with the public, legal counsel, Tribunal members, enforcement bodies, licensees, and their lawyers to collect information and obtain necessary files, documents, and communications.

• Draft the Final Investigation Report for submission to the relevant team members or committees.

• Prepare and review documents for hearings and provide testimony at disciplinary hearings as required.

• Work collaboratively with staff to detect trends and patterns that necessitate further investigation, such as fraudulent activities and repeat offenders.

⛳️ Requirements

• College Diploma in a relevant field such as business, risk management, immigration, investigations, law, or law enforcement.

• Additional training or certification in a related area (e.g., fraud, investigation).

• 3-5 years of experience in an investigative role within a regulatory or enforcement agency.

• Familiarity with investigative processes, evidentiary standards and evaluations, interview methods, cyber investigations, and methodologies.

• Understanding of legal and administrative law principles, including procedural fairness, confidentiality, privacy, human rights, and evidence law.

• Capability to acquire knowledge of the College Act, regulations, By-laws, and Code of Professional Conduct.

• Proficiency in office/administrative software.

• Bilingualism is not mandatory.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

• The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.
