InterSystems IRIS Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain InterSystems IRIS/Caché and ObjectScript solutions that support VX130 and associated DMM applications.

• Design, create, enhance, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications for the migration of VistA data to Oracle Health.

• Execute data extraction, aggregation, transformation, validation, and transmission processes.

• Analyze VistA data structures, FileMan files, globals, metadata, and existing application functionality.

• Create database classes, tables, routines, queries, system services, and automation solutions.

• Design and implement RESTful APIs, web services, and system integrations.

• Conduct unit, functional, integration, and performance testing.

• Diagnose application, database, and data-processing issues and enhance system performance.

• Support IRIS Mirror, high-availability, backup/recovery, and production sustainment environments.

• Engage in code reviews and maintain technical documentation and design artifacts.

• Facilitate version control and CI/CD practices using GitHub, Azure DevOps, and related engineering tools.

• Assist with production deployments, upgrades, incident resolution, platform modernization, containerization, automation, and observability initiatives.

• Collaborate with architects, analysts, data-quality teams, infrastructure engineers, VA stakeholders, Oracle Health, contractors, and cross-functional teams.

• Provide support for occasional after-hours activities as needed to ensure program continuity.

• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as necessary to help achieve team objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 5 years of experience in developing enterprise applications using InterSystems Caché and/or InterSystems IRIS.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with ObjectScript development.

• Strong understanding of IRIS classes, globals, SQL, relational database concepts, and data-access patterns.

• Experience in designing and implementing REST APIs, web services, system integrations, and enterprise data-processing solutions.

• Proficient in troubleshooting complex software applications, databases, and data-processing workflows in production settings.

• Familiarity with automated testing, code review, version control, Agile development, and DevOps/CI/CD methodologies.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to produce clear technical documentation and develop secure, readable, maintainable, and well-structured solutions.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with engineering, operations, data, and customer teams.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• All selected candidates must complete a background check successfully.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including necessary fingerprinting, when required for the role.

• Residency within the continental US is required.
