This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cambodia.

📋 Description

• Create a comprehensive Conservation and Management Manual for the respectful and scientifically informed management of human remains and artifacts at memorial sites in Cambodia.

• Offer guidance on legal and institutional frameworks, ethical standards, documentation, field recovery, preventive conservation, storage, risk management, monitoring, and long-term conservation strategies.

• Carry out two field missions to Cambodia, which will include site visits to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre, and M-13.

• Engage in consultations with site managers, stakeholders, and pertinent national partners.

• Design and conduct two capacity-building workshops for around 20–30 participants each.

• Create reusable training materials, such as PowerPoint presentations and fact sheets.

• Present the manual to relevant stakeholders.

• Produce manual deliverables, which will include a draft outline, a draft manual, a final English version after peer review, and a final activity report.


⛳️ Requirements

• Possess an advanced degree in conservation, archaeology, heritage studies, museum studies, anthropology, or a related field.

• Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in heritage conservation or museum collection management.

• Demonstrate experience in working with human remains and/or sensitive heritage materials.

• Maintain a track record of relevant peer-reviewed publications.

• Have experience in developing conservation manuals or technical guidelines.

• Exhibit strong analytical and research skills.

• Possess excellent writing and drafting capabilities.

• Demonstrate strong skills in stakeholder engagement, coordination, and facilitation.

• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and adhere to deadlines.

• Exhibit excellent English writing and communication abilities.

• Submit an up-to-date curriculum vitae that includes relevant publications.

• Provide a brief technical proposal outlining methodology, workplan, and timeline.

• Include a financial proposal indicating the overall lump-sum cost for the assignment.
