This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of approximately eight engineers possessing diverse levels of full-stack expertise.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, set developmental objectives, offer constructive feedback, and manage performance effectively.
• Create personalized development paths to enhance engineers’ autonomy.
• Recognize strengths and skill gaps, facilitating peer development among engineers.
• Eliminate obstacles and provide necessary resources, context, and support.
• Collaborate with project and product management on roadmap priorities, work readiness, sequencing, dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
• Oversee engineering execution, capacity management, technical quality, and accountability for delivery.
• Identify potential delivery risks and resource constraints, resolving them across teams.
• Maintain technical expertise to coach engineers, assess methodologies, and offer technical guidance.
• Steer modern full-stack development utilizing React, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS.
• Collaborate with architecture leadership on application design and technical strategy.
• Convert business requirements into actionable technical tasks.
• Aid in the modernization of legacy applications into scalable web-based platforms.
• Advocate engineering best practices for architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, reliability, and maintainability.
• Work alongside engineering leadership, architects, project managers, product partners, and business leaders.
• Address cross-team conflicts and balance delivery demands with engineering growth and talent development.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Perform additional assigned responsibilities.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience in designing and building production full-stack applications.
• Proven experience in formally leading software engineers, which includes coaching, performance feedback, delivery accountability, and resource planning.
• Extensive professional experience with React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Strong understanding of modern application development in AWS environments.
• Capability to provide technical guidance, assess engineering methods, and engage credibly in architecture and design discussions.
• Experience in leading software delivery amidst competing priorities, dependencies, and resource limitations.
• Demonstrated ability to coach engineers and facilitate their technical and professional growth.
• Excellent communication skills with engineers, architects, project managers, product partners, and business stakeholders.
• Direct people-management experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with Next.js.
• Experience in modernizing legacy applications or platforms.
• Experience leading engineers through significant technical transformations or upskilling initiatives.
• Knowledge of serverless AWS architecture, including Lambda, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, or CloudFront.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation, or comparable technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and contemporary DevOps practices.
• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Experience in building AI-enabled applications or systems.
• Knowledge of VBA or Microsoft Access.
• Experience in healthcare, DME, finance, or insurance sectors.
• Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
