This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as an integral part of the product team by participating in standups, design and product marketing discussions, and product evaluations.
• Monitor and evaluate competitors and similar products to pinpoint feature deficiencies, emerging trends, and unmet requirements.
• Maintain a weekly competitive tracker that includes feature launches, significant releases, and changes in competitor positioning.
• Engage with users aged 16 to 25 through recruitment and interviews to grasp their language, listening preferences, and unmet needs regarding music discovery and sharing.
• Assist in usability and concept testing for new features and prototypes.
• Gather both qualitative and quantitative feedback and convert it into actionable recommendations for sprints.
• Analyze audience reactions to curation and algorithmic suggestions.
• Research visual and interaction trends within music, social media, and related applications for product and design teams.
• Keep an eye on Reddit, Discord, TikTok comments, and app store reviews to identify pertinent themes.
• Collaborate with community and R&D teams on user feedback initiatives.
• Draft survey questions, monitor feedback and bug reports, and document recurring themes.
• Organize and tag interview notes, clips, and findings in the research repository.
• Compile findings into concise internal documents and prepare a comprehensive 12-week report and presentation.
• Lead a self-directed product research project and present findings to the team.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program or higher at an accredited institution.
• Must have completed the Sophomore year or later.
• Enrolled in at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participating in the internship program.
• Must be returning to school for at least one semester following the completion of the internship program.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Genuine interest in consumer products and how individuals discover, share, and discuss music.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Comfortable conducting interviews with unfamiliar individuals and asking follow-up questions.
• Well-organized and self-motivated, capable of managing multiple research threads with minimal supervision in a remote setting.
• Proficient in working with survey results and basic data sets.
• Familiar with TikTok, Instagram, Discord, Reddit, and major streaming services.
• Ability to handle confidential information regarding products, partners, and roadmaps with discretion.
• Must successfully complete a post-offer background check and drug screening.
• Preferred degree program in business, marketing, design, human-computer interaction, communications, music business, or a related field.
• Previous internship, coursework, or project experience in user research, product management, marketing, or design is advantageous.
• Practical experience with interviews, surveys, or usability testing is a plus.
• Experience in building an audience, creating content for social platforms, or moderating online communities is a plus.
• Familiarity with Figma, Notion, and survey or analytics tools is a plus.
• Proficiency with AI tools is a plus.
• Personal engagement in music as a musician, DJ, playlist curator, writer, or active community member is a plus.
