Intern, Epidemiology, Data Science – Evaluation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in the Annual Heart Disease and Stroke Statistical Update.

• Extract, analyze, and summarize data on prevalence, mortality, healthcare utilization, expenditures, and outcomes utilizing national datasets such as NHANES, NHIS, CDC WONDER, HCUP, and MEPS.

• Aid in the collection, management, analysis, and reporting of data related to cardiovascular disease and stroke.

• Generate and update statistical tables, figures, charts, and supporting documentation for scientific reports and publications.

• Develop and uphold standard operating procedures, analytic documentation, and process guides for data extraction, analysis, reporting, and quality assurance.

• Collaborate with epidemiologists, data scientists, and scientific volunteers to address data requests and assist with annual publication activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, or a related discipline.

• Proficient in statistical software such as cloud-based SAS and/or R.

• A strong interest in and dedication to working with chronic disease data and populations.

• Capability to perform quantitative analyses and interpret public health data.

• Skill in developing written procedures and documentation.

• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

• Coursework or experience in epidemiologic methods, statistics, and population health research.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality assurance.

• Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities across various entities.

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

• A reliable WiFi connection is essential.

• Minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 5 pm CST.

• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, both now and in the future.

• For remote work, must perform tasks within the United States, not in any foreign country.

• Experience with approved enterprise or closed-system AI tools for data analysis, documentation, quality assurance, or scientific reporting is preferred.
