This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +2 more states.
• Operate under the guidance of a senior architectural professional and receive targeted, detailed feedback.
• Generate construction drawings, primarily during the construction-documentation stage.
• Execute design and coordination tasks throughout all project phases, with increasing complexity and responsibility as proficiency is attained.
• Achieve NCARB registration and monitor progress in alignment with AXP requirements.
• Research and document project code specifications.
• Support the development of basic design schedules and schematics.
• Investigate, analyze, and prepare designated sheets for construction drawing sets.
• Assess and document the scope, quantity, and cost relative to material choices and formulate specifications.
• Engage in meetings with code officials and modify designs to ensure compliance.
• Aid and guide clients in securing necessary approvals and permits.
• Create elevation drawings and material schedules.
• Ensure that design, material, and detail modifications made during the construction-documentation phase are accurately reflected in all pertinent drawings.
• Review work for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to the project team.
• Research and implement more complex details, codes, and methods.
• Potentially take full responsibility for all aspects of a small, low-complexity project.
• One to two years of experience in an architectural setting is preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program.
• Successful completion of a Revit proficiency assessment.
• Academic portfolio.
• Some experience in the building environment is also preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Working knowledge of ICBO, International Building Code, along with awareness of federal, state, and local codes.
• Familiarity with building materials and construction techniques.
• Understanding of the planning and design process.
• Knowledge of engineering systems relevant to the constructed environment.
• Awareness and comprehension of potential environmental hazards concerning the site.
• Proficiency with the currently used version of Revit or AutoCAD.
• Understanding of mathematical and engineering formulas necessary for determining space dimensions and preparing quantity calculations for selected materials.
• Capability in architectural lettering by hand.
• Skill in rough rendering and quick sketching by hand.
• Ability to navigate uneven terrain, climb stairs or ladders, and tolerate environmental nuisances associated with construction sites.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Competence in visually surveying, measuring, and evaluating project sites, site elements, and projects under construction.
