Intake Specialist – Outbound

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Initiate outbound calls to patients to arrange various types of appointments across multiple locations.

• Engage professionally with patients in all communications.

• Accurately document and confirm the appointments requested.

• Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.

• Identify the most suitable location, clinician, and appointment type required for each patient.

• Manage incoming faxes from referral sources effectively.

• Triage and route general inquiry calls appropriately.

• Reach out to patients regarding no-show or rescheduled appointments.

• Uphold and promote the values of Hanger.

• Directly converse with patients and their families to assess their needs, medical history, mental and physical condition, and any special requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

• Must demonstrate a suitable fit for the role, as assessed by a skills evaluation; Hanger will conduct this assessment during the selection process.

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities, with a capacity to follow both written and verbal instructions.

• Resourceful and adaptable team player, skilled at cultivating trusting relationships with patients, referral sources, and colleagues.

• Familiarity with HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology for private payers, state, and federal plans, including coding, billing, and reimbursement protocols.

• Proficient in computer skills, including Windows-based office applications (e.g., Word, Excel), Outlook, and automated billing systems.

• Knowledgeable in ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPC/CPT coding, and other related coding systems.

• Capable of using office equipment such as facsimile machines, calculators, and postage machines.

• General understanding of state, federal, and regional collection and reimbursement laws.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Must maintain an enthusiastic and positive outlook.

• Ability to work autonomously, exercise creativity, and pay close attention to detail.
