Insurance/Risk Management Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Support the Insurance Manager and the Chief of the Risk Management Division with tasks and activities related to the Insurance Section.

• Evaluate and analyze contract scopes of service.

• Suggest suitable insurance requirements along with critical terms and conditions for members of the Montgomery County Self Insurance Program.

• Ensure that Certificates of Insurance and related endorsements adhere to established standards.

• Assess scopes of work and contracts for potential exposures to formulate insurance requirements for contracts and legal agreements.

• Collaborate with internal colleagues, external contractors, and vendors.

• Attend meetings or carry out work at off-site locations as operationally required.

• Work closely with County staff to promote knowledge sharing.

• Report to the Insurance Manager, with secondary reporting to the Chief of the Division of Risk Management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

• Preference for candidates with at least two (2) years of professional experience in an insurance agency, brokerage, underwriting role, or contract legal work.

• Proficient in oral and written communication to diverse audiences and organizations.

• Strong negotiation abilities.

• Familiarity with and understanding of commercial insurance coverage.

• Capacity to analyze scopes of work and contracts for potential exposures.

• Knowledge of compliance with insurance requirements and certificates of insurance.

• Understanding of indemnity clauses in contractual agreements.

• Excellent customer service orientation.

• Willingness to attend meetings or perform work at off-site locations as operationally necessary.

• Successful completion of County background checks is required.
