This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Accurately code inpatient rehabilitation facility records using the latest ICD coding version within the supervisor’s designated timeframe.
• Adhere to the assigned coding schedule diligently.
• Collaborate with the PPS Coordinator/Outcomes Manager to allocate impairment codes for admissions and newly identified conditions.
• Offer backup support to ensure the prompt transmission of IRF PAIs for Medicare inpatients.
• Uphold the confidentiality of both patient and employee information.
• Engage in continuing education sessions, training programs, mandatory in-services, and staff meetings.
• Fulfill annual health, safety, and educational requirements.
• Promote professional growth and development.
• Comply with organizational and hospital health, safety, security, and hazardous materials policies and procedures.
• Execute responsibilities in alignment with HIPAA, the Code of Conduct, organizational policies, and relevant laws and standards.
• Represent the organization with professionalism and exhibit excellent guest relations skills.
• Certification as RHIT, RHIA, CCA, or CCS from AHIMA, or CPC or CIC from AAPC is mandatory.
• A minimum of two years of recent experience in coding for inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.
• Proficiency in UB04 and IRF PAI coding.
• Current licensure or certification for the role, if applicable.
• Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Advanced knowledge of computer applications.
• Familiarity with basic office equipment.
• Proficient telephone communication skills.
• Understanding of ICD coding principles.
• Awareness of HIPAA privacy regulations.
• Authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
• Availability to work during assigned facility business hours, generally from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the employee’s time zone.
