Inpatient Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes utilizing ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.

• Precisely sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring accuracy and adherence to documentation standards.

• Supervise and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, as applicable.

• Advocate for documentation improvement opportunities and address coding issues, facilitating resolutions with relevant parties.

• Maintain an overall coding accuracy rate of 95% and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments.

• Adhere to site-specific productivity benchmarks.

• Promote professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff while addressing clinical and reimbursement concerns.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of recent inpatient coding experience in a facility.

• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA credentials preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• An Associate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-accredited HIM or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AHIMA/AAPC, with a preference for CCS.

• A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience at a Level I Trauma Center, ideally in an academic medical environment.

• Experience with substantial levels of coding quality review feedback.

• Familiarity with computerized encoding and abstracting software.

• This position is not eligible for employment sponsorship.
