Inpatient Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Examine and evaluate documentation within medical records.

• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes based on the documentation provided by physicians.

• Code services for inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional settings.

• Comply with the Standards of Ethical Coding set forth by the American Health Information Management Association.

• Follow established official coding guidelines.

• Conduct data entry tasks using keyboard and mouse.

• Work full-time during daytime hours in a remote capacity.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of coding experience in ICD-10-CM diagnoses/procedure coding and HCPCS/CPT procedure coding within acute care inpatient/outpatient hospital or professional services environments.

• Certification such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, or CIRCC, or completion of certification within 6 months of starting employment.

• Proficient understanding and extensive experience with ICD-10-CM and/or CPT/HCPCS coding classification systems.

• Familiarity with MS-DRGs, APCs, MPFS/RVUs, POAs, and HACs, depending on coding specialty.

• An Associate's degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Health Information Management program is preferred.

• Experience with the 3M encoder and Epic is preferred.

• Capability to perform repetitive motion with approximately 25% keyboard and 75% mouse usage for data entry tasks.
