Inpatient Coding Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage the systemwide revenue-cycle coding compliance initiative.

• Provide daily supervision of coding operational workflows and processes.

• Ensure timely and accurate coding for facility billing and hospital/provider quality metrics.

• Lead coding staff to meet productivity and quality objectives.

• Align coding performance with revenue-cycle targets and Munson Healthcare goals.

• Develop and enhance the strategy for coding operations at Munson Healthcare.

• Supervise and guide assigned personnel using independent judgment.

• Manage large-scale programs that have significant budgetary and organizational implications.

• Coordinate diagnostic and procedural coding processes in line with regulations and payer requirements.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and organizational standards and policies.

• Assist with planning, service commitments, budgeting, internal quality assessments, and controls.

• Maintain the integrity of coded and abstracted data while supporting the education and training of coding staff.

• Foster relationships with Revenue Cycle departments, clinical providers, and practice staff.

• Act as a resource for coding and charge capture inquiries.

• Establish coding goals, objectives, productivity targets, policies, and procedures.

• Monitor budgets and report any variances.

• Coordinate the daily tasks of the Coding team.

• Promote continuous improvement and provide guidance to Human Resources.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. work authorization is required and must be permanent.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) is mandatory.

• Current certification as a nationally recognized RHIT or RHIA is required.

• Preference will be given to candidates possessing CCS and/or CIC certification.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is essential.

• Direct supervisory experience is necessary.

• A minimum of 5 years of supervisory or coding leadership experience is required.

• 3–5 years of experience in coding various types of visits is needed.

• Comprehensive understanding of the revenue cycle, especially in facility coding.

• Demonstrated extensive knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems.

• Proven skills in analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, planning, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal relations.

• Experience in managing complex projects or multiple client engagements simultaneously.

• Leadership experience in team building, training, supervising, coaching/mentoring, and performance management is required.

• Familiarity with creating, providing, or facilitating meetings and/or training presentations is expected.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and staff in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
