Inpatient Audit Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct inpatient facility coding audits for onboarding, targeted reviews, service level agreements, and various other assessments.

• Assign proper codes and coding-related elements utilizing MS DRGs or APR DRGs.

• Offer clear justifications for identified modifications, including references to documentation.

• Stay updated on regulatory changes.

• Organize and manage multiple cases simultaneously to ensure timely workflow and turnaround.

• Provide education to coders throughout the auditing process.

• Identify and propose solutions for client-related issues.

• Support consulting, educational initiatives, coding quality, compliance evaluations, external payer reviews, and operational workflow needs.

• Uphold AHIMA’s code of ethics.

• Maintain a professional, efficient, and positive demeanor while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in facility inpatient coding and/or auditing.

• CCS certification is mandatory.

• RHIA or RHIT certification is preferred.

• Maintain a 95% accuracy rate in DRG coding.

• Familiarity with software such as Epic, Cerner, and other common EMRs.

• Strong skills in writing queries.

• Experience with spinal coding is an advantage.

• Must comply with post-offer health screenings and provide proof and/or completion of required vaccinations as necessary.
