This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.
• Collaborate with mDoc's clinical, AI, product, research, and implementation teams to identify and convey what mDoc is developing, testing, and learning.
• Assist in establishing an innovation newsroom within mDoc.
• Recognize significant innovations, insights, outcomes, and lessons alongside ML, clinical, product, research, and implementation teams.
• Participate in select product and implementation discussions.
• Conduct interviews with team members, partners, and, when relevant, individuals utilizing mDoc's services.
• Research and compose articles focused on innovation and thought leadership, as well as technical and evidence-based blogs, case studies, executive and founder insights, conference abstracts and submissions, policy briefs, video and documentary scripts, research manuscripts and papers, and innovation narratives for grants and partners.
• Convert intricate technical, clinical, and implementation work into writing that is rigorous, clear, and engaging.
• Assist in crafting a flagship monthly innovation newsletter detailing what mDoc is building, testing, learning, and uncovering.
• Offer funders, governments, researchers, technologists, healthcare leaders, and partners a transparent perspective on building and implementing new healthcare models in real-world scenarios.
• Systematically archive mDoc's innovation and institutional knowledge in an Innovation Story Bank.
• Document major innovations by capturing the problem, insight, solution, novelty, deployment, evidence/results, failures, changes, lessons, and significance.
• Collaborate with research and data teams to translate findings into accessible narratives without sacrificing scientific integrity.
• Assist in elucidating what findings suggest about potential changes in healthcare practices.
• Minimum: a Bachelor's degree (Second Class Upper or equivalent) in public health, global health, medicine, science, technology, journalism, communications, public policy, international development, behavioral science, health informatics, or another relevant field.
• 0–2 years of pertinent experience.
• Recent graduates who completed their studies within the last 2–3 years are highly encouraged to apply.
• A portfolio or writing samples that demonstrate strong writing skills, including published articles, blogs, research papers, reports, or academic writing.
• Exceptional writing skills across various formats, including articles, scripts, and scientific abstracts.
• Intellectual curiosity with the ability to inquire about the reasons, processes, outcomes, and lessons learned.
• Analytical skills to read research, analyze data, and differentiate between evidence and assertions.
• Storytelling capability to extract narratives from technical reports, product discussions, or interactions with frontline health workers.
• A genuine interest in AI and technology, including their limitations, safety, and real-world applications.
• Attention to detail and precision in fact-checking, scrutinizing claims, and avoiding evidence exaggeration.
• Comfort with uncertainty and innovation that may involve unsuccessful attempts.
• Ability to interview and engage with experts, senior leaders, and frontline teams.
• Preferred: a completed Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Preferred: prior exposure to research, journalism, communications, health, or technology-related work, including academic, volunteer, internship, or NYSC experiences.
• Preferred: experience writing for scientific, technical, or policy audiences, including abstracts, manuscripts, or briefs.
• Desirable: familiarity with digital health, health systems, or African health contexts.
• Desirable: basic skills in video or documentary scripting.
• Desirable: experience in producing newsletters or editorial content.
• Desirable: ability to work with data and interpret research findings with assistance from the research team.
• Unique exposure to the design and implementation of health innovation in African health systems.
