This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.
• Collaborate with mDoc's clinical, AI, product, research, and implementation teams.
• Recognize significant innovations, insights, outcomes, and lessons learned.
• Participate in selected discussions related to product and implementation.
• Conduct interviews with team members, partners, and, when applicable, mDoc service users.
• Research and compose articles focused on innovation and thought leadership.
• Create technical and evidence-based content, including blogs, case studies, executive and founder insights, conference abstracts and submissions, policy and technical briefs, video and documentary scripts, research manuscripts and papers, and narratives for grant and partner engagement.
• Simplify intricate technical, clinical, and implementation concepts into clear, engaging, and compelling writing.
• Assist in the development of a flagship monthly innovation newsletter.
• Offer funders, governmental bodies, researchers, technologists, healthcare leaders, and partners a transparent perspective on constructing and implementing new healthcare models in practical environments.
• Methodically record mDoc's innovation and institutional knowledge in an Innovation Story Bank.
• Document the problem, insight, solution, novelty, deployment, evidence/results, failures, changes, lessons, and significance for key innovations and implementation experiences.
• Collaborate with research and data teams to transform findings into accessible narratives while maintaining scientific integrity.
• Illuminate what findings indicate about potential changes in healthcare practices.
• Minimum requirement: a Bachelor's degree (Second Class Upper or equivalent) in public health, global health, medicine, science, technology, journalism, communications, public policy, international development, behavioral science, health informatics, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last 2–3 years are highly encouraged to apply.
• A portfolio or writing samples showcasing strong writing skills, such as published articles, blogs, research papers, reports, or academic writing.
• Outstanding writing skills across various formats, including articles, scripts, and scientific abstracts.
• Intellectual curiosity.
• Analytical skills, including the ability to read research, analyze data, and differentiate between evidence and assertions.
• Proficiency in storytelling.
• Genuine interest in understanding how technologies like AI function, including their limitations, safety, and practical implementation.
• Precision and rigor; ability to verify facts, scrutinize claims, and avoid exaggerating evidence.
• Comfort in dealing with ambiguity.
• Capability to pose insightful questions to experts, senior leaders, and frontline teams.
• Preferred: a Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Preferred: prior experience in research, journalism, communications, health, or technology-related roles, including academic, volunteer, internship, or NYSC placements.
• Preferred: experience in writing for scientific, technical, or policy audiences.
• Desirable: familiarity with digital health, health systems, or the African healthcare context.
• Desirable: basic skills in video or documentary scripting.
• Desirable: experience in producing newsletters or editorial content.
• Desirable: ability to work with data and interpret research findings with assistance from the research team.
• Engineering skills are not necessary.
• Unique exposure to the design and implementation of health innovation within African health systems.
• Direct experience in AI-enabled healthcare.
• Direct experience in digital and phygital health delivery.
• Direct experience in clinical AI safety and governance.
• Direct experience in human-centered product development.
• Direct experience in the practical application of health technology.
