This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece, +4 more countries.
• Design and oversee containerized environments with a focus on Kubernetes orchestration and cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure deployment pipelines are scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Lead the shift towards a modern, container-centric infrastructure.
• Allocate approximately one third of your time to the Kubernetes platform and two thirds to transitioning services from the legacy system.
• Transition job ingestion and search services to Kubernetes within the first year.
• Decommission the remaining Chef-managed machine images.
• Convert business and infrastructure needs into technical solutions while identifying potential roadblocks.
• Write Terraform scripts to manage AWS resources effectively.
• Automate repetitive tasks and enhance existing services with plugins where suitable.
• Take ownership of deployment, scaling, and daily management of Kubernetes clusters utilizing ArgoCD and Helm.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deploying microservices to production environments.
• Establish monitoring and logging for new services using Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Ensure high uptime and optimize costs in the cloud.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to expedite development and phase out legacy technologies.
• Uphold consistency and prefer clean, straightforward solutions.
• Over 5 years of experience as an Infrastructure, DevOps, Platform, or SRE Engineer.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining clear and effective communication with a widely distributed team.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting, along with CI/CD tools.
• Strong foundation in cloud networking, security practices, and identity management (IAM).
• Capability to design complex systems and collaborate effectively with existing platform engineers.
• Skill in documenting systems comprehensively.
• Strong business outcome focus and a commercial / ROI perspective.
• Nice to have: experience with Packer and Chef machine images.
• Nice to have: Kubernetes workloads deployed using EKS and ArgoCD.
• Nice to have: experience with Nginx, Apache, or Varnish under actual traffic conditions.
• Nice to have: production management experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch.
• Nice to have: knowledge of email deliverability.
• Nice to have: expertise in cloud cost optimization.
• Nice to have: skills in incident remediation and recurrence prevention.
• Nice to have: experience with agentic AI for infrastructure-as-code and/or software development.
