Information Technology Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee, develop, and sustain IT systems and services that facilitate the acquisition, storage, management, and movement of VA program data across various organizational boundaries.

• Assess IT environments and propose scalable solutions to gather, control, and distribute accurate and timely data to the VA and its stakeholders.

• Create and implement web-based portal designs and enhancements to operational systems.

• Develop, implement, and uphold data governance policies and standards.

• Build and maintain automated workflows and applications utilizing Microsoft Power Automate, PowerApps, and related tools.

• Offer technical support and troubleshooting for operational IT systems.

• Collaborate with VA program staff and stakeholders to address issues and reduce disruption to data-driven workflows.

• Generate technical documentation, data reports, and briefing materials.

• Relay system status, data quality findings, and IT solution recommendations to VA leadership and project stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in information technology, data management, or systems administration.

• A BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; 3 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

• 7 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a BA/BS degree.

• Previous experience supporting federal agency clients or government programs is preferred.

• Capability to obtain and retain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential.

• Must fulfill all VA background investigation and system access requirements before commencing work.

• Must have authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is available.

• Proficient in IT systems administration and data management principles.

• Ability to convert complex technical requirements into practical solutions for non-technical program stakeholders.

• Practical experience with Microsoft Power Automate and PowerApps.

• Familiarity with VA data systems, VA OIT standards, or federal data governance frameworks such as the Federal Data Strategy.

• Experience in designing or developing web-based applications, including SharePoint Online or similar platforms.

• Knowledge of healthcare data standards, terminology, or interoperability frameworks such as HL7 and FHIR.

• Experience in producing data quality reports, dashboards, or informatics products using Power BI, Tableau, or SQL-based reporting environments.
