This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Act as a technical authority for preroll manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry best practices.
• Enhance process optimization and assist in the development of processes across various manufacturing sites.
• Offer technical advice on preroll processing techniques, methods, and equipment.
• Tackle technical problems, equipment failures, and unforeseen production obstacles.
• Evaluate and refine processing methods to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and product quality.
• Suggest and implement process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Aid in benchtop R&D studies, time studies, cycle-time evaluations, and process inspections.
• Oversee and maintain electronic batch records across different sites while training site personnel.
• Educate production teams on standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, safety measures, and equipment handling.
• Create training materials, educational tools, refresher workshops, and technology transfer packages.
• Travel to underperforming sites for root-cause analysis and retraining efforts.
• Conduct weekly site meetings to analyze operational and quality data, pinpoint process deficiencies, and implement corrective measures.
• Develop and enhance corporate preroll SOPs, TAMUs, work aids, One-Point Lessons, and comprehensive work instructions.
• Assist with site-readiness documentation for product and process introductions.
• Gather, analyze, and present preroll quality scorecard data along with actionable performance insights.
• Adhere to safety, GMP, biosecurity, sanitation, PPE, and other compliance standards at manufacturing facilities.
• Associate’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of preroll manufacturing processes and processing equipment, including flower, infused, blunts, coated prerolls, and associated products.
• Experience in developing preroll products and expertise across various preroll offerings.
• Background in innovating and commercializing preroll products within cannabis or hemp sectors.
• Familiarity with preroll production processes, including milling, infusing, filling, closing, painting, and packaging.
• Awareness of cannabis/preroll market trends.
• Proficient in manufacturing and laboratory equipment and processes relevant to preroll development.
• Experience in completing conversions, moving materials, and related tasks within seed-to-sale tracking systems.
• Understanding of laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations concerning hazardous chemicals.
• Capability to plan, design experiments, and troubleshoot problems effectively.
• Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing equipment and software independently.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
• Skill in understanding and complying with relevant laws, regulations, safety standards, municipal codes, organizational rules, directives, and SOPs.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Possession of a valid state ID.
• Capacity to obtain and maintain state badging requirements for employment in the cannabis industry, including passing background checks and state reviews.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Willingness to travel 2–3 times a month for up to 4-day assignments.
• Extensive travel up to 50% as needed to support sites across the organization.
