Identity & Microsoft 365 Migration Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Consolidate existing Active Directory forests and oversee coexistence through trusts, SID history, and directory synchronization.

• Transition users, groups, computers, and service accounts to the target forest.

• Execute Entra Connect and Cloud Sync during migration, which includes implementing scoping changes and staging-mode cutovers.

• Safeguard current cloud identities by managing sourceAnchor and ImmutableID values while utilizing hard-match or soft-match methods.

• Verify Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and PIM post-migration.

• Clear SID history, eliminate migration trusts, and decommission outdated forests.

• Transfer devices from domain-joined or hybrid-joined status to Entra-joined and manage them via Intune.

• Reconstruct relevant Group Policy settings as Intune configuration and compliance policies.

• Migrate Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and Teams between tenants, including public folders where applicable.

• Oversee domain and mail-flow cutovers, which include connectors, MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC management.

• Manage source-tenant data, encompassing sensitivity labels, encrypted content, retention policies, and holds, while raising design inquiries with PwC.

• Choose suitable migration tools for each specific workload.

• Automate repetitive tasks and validation checks using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph PowerShell, and the Graph API.

• Maintain Azure VMs that run migration and sync servers, including tasks such as sizing, patching, backups, network access, and monitoring.

• Troubleshoot identity and Microsoft 365 issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.

• Adhere to the client's change control process for production modifications.

• Keep runbooks, SOPs, validation reports, and handover documents updated.

• Participate in and occasionally lead working sessions with stakeholders from various regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience with Microsoft identity and infrastructure, including Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.

• Extensive hands-on expertise in identity migration or Microsoft 365 workload migration, with practical experience in the other domain.

• At least two migration projects completed hands-on, covering both identity and Microsoft 365 workload migration fields.

• Strong understanding of Active Directory forests and trusts, Group Policy, DNS, replication, Kerberos, and LDAP.

• Experience with Entra Connect or Cloud Sync and a solid understanding of sourceAnchor and hard-match concepts.

• Practical experience with at least one migration tool, such as Quest, ADMT, ShareGate, BitTitan MigrationWiz, or Microsoft native tools.

• Knowledge of Exchange Online mail flow, SharePoint and OneDrive permissions, Teams administration, and Intune enrollment and policies.

• Proficient in PowerShell, including the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Preferred: experience with migrations involving 5,000+ users across multiple forests or tenants.

• Preferred: consolidation experience following a merger or acquisition.

• Preferred: familiarity with Exchange hybrid and public folder migrations.

• Preferred: knowledge of Purview (DLP, sensitivity labels, retention) and Defender.

• Preferred: experience with Azure Automation runbooks.

• Preferred: background in banking, financial services, or other regulated industries.

• Certifications such as MS-102, SC-300, AZ-104, or MD-102 are beneficial but not mandatory.
