This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Design, configure, and provide support for IBM MQ clusters.
• Oversee workload balancing, ensure high availability, manage cluster maintenance, and troubleshoot cluster issues.
• Establish and support IBM MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT).
• Conduct regular MQ maintenance tasks, including log management, tuning of queue managers, security upkeep, backups/restores, patching, and performance optimization.
• Plan, execute, test, and validate MQ version upgrades, including rolling upgrades within clustered environments.
• Automate MQ administration, deployments, monitoring of alert actions, log analysis, environment deployments, and health checks utilizing PowerShell and Linux shell scripting.
• Implement and manage MQ monitoring solutions through enterprise tools, MQ APIs, command-line utilities, and custom scripts.
• Troubleshoot MQ applications by analyzing message flows, diagnosing blocked or orphaned connections, resolving delivery delays, interpreting MQRC errors, and tracing root causes.
• Provide guidance to application teams on MQ best practices, message flow optimization, and integration design.
• Maintain standards for configuration, operational procedures, and upgrade/migration documentation.
• Extensive experience in designing, configuring, and supporting IBM MQ Clusters, including workload balancing, high availability, cluster maintenance, and troubleshooting cluster-specific challenges.
• Expertise in IBM MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT), with capabilities in setup, agent configuration, resource monitoring, coordination queue managers, and secure file transfer design.
• In-depth knowledge of MQ maintenance tasks such as log file management, queue manager tuning, security configuration maintenance, backup/restore processes, and patch management.
• Practical experience with MQ version upgrades, including multi-node upgrade planning, compatibility testing, rolling upgrades in clustered settings, and post-upgrade validation.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating administrative functions in Windows-based MQ environments.
• Skilled in Linux shell scripting, including bash and ksh, for automating MQ tasks, log analysis, environment deployments, and cluster management routines.
• Capability to create automated routines for MQ deployments, monitoring alert actions, and conducting MQ health checks.
• Ability to develop custom monitoring scripts utilizing MQ APIs or command-line tools.
• Advanced skills in debugging MQ applications, including message flow analysis, diagnosing blocked or orphaned connections, resolving message delivery delays, interpreting MQRC error codes, and tracing root causes in distributed environments.
• Robust understanding of messaging patterns and MQ security, encompassing TLS, CHLAUTH rules, and connection authentication.
• Experience in enterprise environments that enforce strict change control protocols.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with application teams on MQ best practices, message flow optimization, and integration design.
• Strong documentation capabilities for configuration standards, operational procedures, and upgrade/migration guides.
