
HVAC Controls Pre-Sales Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +10 more states.
β’ Oversee pre-sales engineering, design, and estimation activities for HVAC control and BAS projects, including plan-and-spec, retrofit, and design-build initiatives.
β’ Create scopes, control schematics, material lists, and cost estimates utilizing Selection Navigator and other relevant engineering tools.
β’ Assist in opportunity qualification and prioritization by offering technical expertise, solution guidance, and project development requirements to the Sales team.
β’ Organize pre-bid and pre-book estimate reviews while managing project cost data throughout booking and release meetings.
β’ Prepare RFIs and RFPs for subcontractors, assess bids, evaluate vendor proposals, and aid in defining the scope for subcontracted tasks.
β’ Analyze specifications, pinpoint gaps or conflicts, and propose practical solutions.
β’ Collaborate with Sales and Operations on technical value propositions, solution strategies, and presentations for customers.
β’ Work alongside the Johnson Controls OpenBlue Digital team on integrated automation and cloud-based analytics solutions.
β’ Evaluate financial and execution risks and suggest mitigation strategies.
β’ Facilitate project turnover by ensuring Project Managers receive comprehensive technical documentation and a clear understanding of the sold solution.
β’ Advocate for QA/QC discipline, process consistency, and engineering best practices.
β’ 5 to 7 years of experience in controls sales, applications engineering, estimating, or operations related to HVAC systems and Building Automation Systems (BAS), including Automatic Temperature Controls (ATC) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
β’ Capability to work on U.S. restricted projects.
β’ Background in supporting pre-sales development, estimating, specification interpretation, subcontractor coordination, or applications engineering within a building automation setting.
β’ Ability to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders spread across various U.S. markets.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience (preferred).
β’ Strong analytical, technical, and computer proficiency.
β’ Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
β’ Experience within Johnson Controls installation or service operations as an Application Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Installation Sales professional (preferred).
β’ Familiarity with integrated building systems, energy management solutions, and digital building technologies.
