This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Perform on-site QA/QC inspections of building systems, structural integrity, and safety compliance.
• Evaluate electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and structural elements in commercial, residential, and industrial properties.
• Conduct inspections of military housing following established protocols and guidelines.
• Ensure that homes on military bases adhere to safety regulations while identifying and reporting hazards.
• Gather real-time property-condition data utilizing tablets and web-based applications.
• Provide photographic evidence of housing unit conditions and any identified issues.
• Review construction plans, specifications, and maintenance records for compliance purposes.
• Detect deficiencies, hazards, and non-conformance issues, offering recommendations for corrective actions.
• Inspect mechanical systems across single-family homes, multiplexes, townhouses, row houses, apartments, and barracks.
• Conduct interviews with on-site representatives and knowledgeable property contacts.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports that include photographs and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and standards, including ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, and ASME.
• Communicate inspection findings and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and fellow inspectors to uphold consistency and quality control.
• Maintain project communication with senior management regarding issues and potential challenges.
• Stay informed on building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Achieve productivity and report-quality objectives.
• Safeguard confidential company information while delivering timely and proactive customer service.
• Adhere to company policies, SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
• Work overtime as authorized.
• Travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client sites nationwide; onsite deployments may extend up to three consecutive weeks.
• A high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required; some college coursework is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
• InterNACHI certification is mandatory for Military Inspectors; candidates must pass the Interim Certification and obtain the Interim Certified Property Inspector designation within the first week of employment.
• Candidates must achieve the Full Certified Property Inspector designation through InterNACHI within 12 months of joining the program.
• Complete 90 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within the first year.
• A valid driver's license is required, with no significant points or violations on the motor vehicle report.
• Strong ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
• Capable of presenting information and responding to inquiries from clients, peers, and technical field staff.
• Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Proficient in interpreting various instructions and dealing with both abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer proficiency is necessary, including skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and project management software.
• Strong time management, active listening, critical thinking, problem-solving, and both oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Must maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely.
• A cell phone and personal internet service are required.
• Must meet the physical demands of the role, including walking, standing, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs and ladders, operating tablets and computers, occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds, and safely operating a motor vehicle with passengers.
• Willingness to travel 75–90% of the time to client/project sites across the U.S.; frequent travel and overnight stays are needed.
• For Mechanical Inspectors: knowledge of welding/pressure vessel inspection is preferred; NDT knowledge or certification is an asset.
• For FLS Inspectors: a bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred; in-depth knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulations; proficiency with inspection software and reporting tools is essential.
