Hosting Systems Principal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deploy, maintain, and ensure the uptime of all production and engineering virtual servers.

• Offer infrastructure support and assist in application deployment for the engineering software support team.

• Lead service restoration efforts by prioritizing and escalating issues to vendors and internal support teams as necessary.

• Provide assistance for infrastructure-related service incidents and adhere to internal management escalation procedures as part of a team rotation.

• Manage tickets in ServiceNow, interpret architecture diagrams, and create services based on those diagrams.

• Support infrastructure technologies including VMware hypervisors, Azure, AWS, Hyper-V, Linux servers, and Windows servers.

• Assist with engineering applications such as Jira, Artifactory, and Bitbucket.

• Ensure that systems comply with Thales security standards and escalate any violations as needed.

• Compile a weekly report on systems service availability for the department.

• Monitor customer Service Level Agreements in relation to availability.

• Maintain system service levels through proactive monitoring and maintenance efforts.

• Operate with minimal supervision.

• Offer recommendations to the team lead/manager for professional development and training initiatives.

• Collaborate on assigned projects to enhance partnership opportunities with other teams.

• Provide 24/7 on-call support for infrastructure-related service incidents as part of a team rotation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in computer science with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in Linux enterprise infrastructure.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience administering VMware vSphere, vCenter, and Azure Stack.

• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership abilities.

• Strong knowledge and experience in managing applications on Microsoft Windows and Linux (preferably Red Hat and Ubuntu).

• Excellent oral and written communication, as well as planning, implementation, and troubleshooting skills.

• Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.

• Detail-oriented and able to work independently.

• Extensive knowledge and experience administering Microsoft Active Directory is preferred.

• Ideal candidates will have experience supporting software development environments.

• All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.

• Must be able to obtain NATO Secret security clearance.

• Must be eligible or capable of obtaining authorization for access to controlled technical information under Canadian and U.S. export-control regulations.
