Hospice Medicare Billing and Collections Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Process and submit claims from third-party entities.

• Manage denied claims and resolve outstanding accounts.

• Accurately prepare and submit billing to third-party payors and self-pay invoices.

• Identify and rectify rejections from the billing clearinghouse.

• Conduct root cause analyses on unpaid accounts receivable and address issues with third-party payors.

• Analyze and resolve any credit balance discrepancies.

• Handle incoming and outgoing customer service calls with third-party payors, external providers, and patients/guarantors.

• Process correspondence effectively.

• Initiate and resolve technical appeals for denied claims.

• Identify trends in payor denials and cash fluctuations, escalating issues as necessary.

• Represent the Company in a professional manner, adhering to relevant regulations, policies, and practices.

• Ensure confidentiality and engage in quality improvement, research, educational, and performance activities.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical billing and collections.

• Preferred knowledge of third-party billing and state and federal collection regulations.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities independently with minimal supervision.

• Must possess a self-motivated and service-oriented attitude.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Proficient typing and data entry skills are required.

• Must satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this role.

• Consent to drug and/or alcohol testing following a conditional job offer.

• Must maintain ongoing eligibility through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

• Compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy is mandatory.
