This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Evaluate claims submitted by homeowners assigned to you.
• Reach out to policyholders and other impacted individuals.
• Set expectations and begin documentation within the claims management system.
• Assess policy coverage, terms, and their relevance to reported incidents.
• Identify all relevant benefits available to policyholders.
• Generate sub-claims if necessary or escalate complex claims to management or the appropriate claim handlers.
• Investigate the facts surrounding claims to assess payment eligibility, limits, exclusions, and recovery possibilities.
• Review damages and analyze the applicability of state regulations and other claim-related factors.
• Determine the financial impact of losses.
• Authorize payments to the appropriate entities.
• Forward claims to Underwriting, Recovery Units, or the Claims Special Investigation Unit when required.
• Document and categorize claims files, completing all closure processes in the claims management system.
• Negotiate settlements for claims.
• Manage Homeowner/CAT claims typically valued between $5,000 and $25,000 for the inside desk position.
• Investigate claims that necessitate coverage analysis.
• Review estimates for precision.
• Monitor the status of contractor repairs and provide updates as needed.
• Collaborate with internal partners to guarantee timely and equitable claim resolutions.
• Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge or experience.
• In jurisdictions where necessary, eligible to obtain a State Adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire and maintain it as required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in negotiating claim settlements, gathering and assessing evidence, preparing both manual and electronic estimates, handling subrogation claims, resolving coverage inquiries, taking statements, and formulating claim evaluation and resolution strategies.
• Understanding of the Essential Insurance Act (Michigan).
• Familiarity with the Fair Trade Practices Act as it pertains to claims.
• Knowledge of subrogation practices and processes.
• Understanding of intercompany arbitration.
• Knowledge of construction and repair techniques.
• Capability to manage claims according to Claim Handling Standards.
• Ability to adhere to and implement ACG Claim policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Proficient in using ACG Claim systems, including basic PC applications.
• Competence in conducting fundamental claim file reviews and investigations.
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Excellent customer service skills with a talent for building and maintaining relationships with insureds and claimants.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Skill in prioritizing claim-related tasks.
• Ability to process time-sensitive information from various sources.
• Time management, organizational, and workload planning expertise.
• Capacity to operate a motor vehicle safely when required.
• Proficiency in researching, analyzing, and understanding subrogation laws across different states.
• Willingness to travel outside the assigned territory, possibly requiring overnight stays.
• Flexibility to relocate and work evenings or weekends.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• A valid driver's license is necessary if primary duties include in-person inspections or frequent meetings in person.
• An associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience (preferred).
• Completion of the Insurance Institute of America's General Insurance Program, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, or a comparable program (preferred).
• Experience with Xactimate (preferred).
• Familiarity with full-cycle claim handling (preferred).
• Active Florida adjuster's license (preferred).
• Experience in a call center or queue calling environment (preferred, not mandatory).
