This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance and technical proficiency within the coding service area.

• Execute fundamental responsibilities of a certified coder.

• Function as an expert coder in the designated coding service line.

• Serve as a role model and support departmental management initiatives.

• Assist with leadership tasks in the absence of the coordinator or supervisor.

• Aid in the orientation and training of both new and current coding personnel.

• Conduct routine peer reviews in accordance with established standards.

• Lead staff meetings and collaborate on departmental, enterprise-wide, and external projects.

• Support employees with work-related inquiries.

• Carry out regular staff rounds and prepare reports for supervisor or manager meetings.

• Develop and adhere to annual budgets in collaboration with leadership.

• Interpret and evaluate financial data to track performance and set departmental benchmarks.

• Act as a resource and mentor for others.

• Create, revise, and uphold departmental policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Knowledge of Radiology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding systems.

• Certification as Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (CPCH), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) within a 2-year period.

• Experience in coding work.

• Capability to perform duties of a certified coder.

• Proficiency in conducting peer audits and regular peer reviews.

• Ability to mentor and train coding staff members.

• Skill in interpreting and analyzing financial data.

• Competence in creating, updating, and maintaining departmental policies and procedures.
