Outpatient Facility Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding for four or more specialties across one or multiple clients or facilities.

• Code Professional Fee, Facility, or HCC cases, which includes inpatient coding or various specialties.

• Offer coding services to support client needs.

• Calculate Professional Fee and/or Facility E/M levels utilizing the company's algorithm.

• Identify critical care cases based on patient acuity.

• Code surgical procedures common to an ER setting to capture additional revenue when applicable.

• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest possible level of specificity.

• Accurately apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes.

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure precise code assignment.

• Recognize the significance of documentation and its impact on reimbursement.

• Uphold quality and productivity standards.

• Engage in professional communication with clients to build strong working relationships.

• Assist Leadership or the Lead Coding Specialist with reports as necessary.

• Potentially commence assistance with auditing tasks.

• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, the Company Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Ethics and Compliance Program.

• Follow internal policies and procedures.

• Safeguard confidential information and Personal Health Information.

• Participate in training and educational programs provided by the company.

• Carry out other duties as assigned by Leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must hold certification from AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P).

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

• Advanced knowledge and experience with systems such as EMR and billing software.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

• Capability to utilize Excel for basic formulas and create simple pivot tables.

• Ability to manage emails and schedule meetings in Outlook.

• Must possess current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references.

• Regular, predictable, and timely attendance is mandatory.

• Maintain an ongoing productivity and accuracy rate of 95% or higher.

• Sustain an ongoing quality score of 95% or above.

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines.

• Capability to work independently from home.

• Ability to engage in computer-based work for 6–8 hours daily.

• Occasionally able to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
