📋 Description

• Accurately assign diagnostic and procedure codes in accordance with clinical documentation and established coding guidelines for inpatient hospital accounts.

• Collaborate with clinical documentation and quality teams to verify Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MSDRG), patient safety indicators, and hospital-acquired conditions via physician documentation.

• Supervise assigned work queues to guarantee timely charging of records.

• Create coding queries to seek clarification on physician documentation when necessary.

• Keep updated with coding standards and updates.

• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.

• No prior experience necessary.

• Certification as a Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA, Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) - AAPC, Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) - AAPC, Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA, or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AHIMA.

• Must be located in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.

• Frequent use of keyboard/data entry is essential.

• Must be able to meet physical demands, including frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling items weighing 0-25 lbs, with occasional objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

• Capable of performing tasks that involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, as well as the use of vision, hearing, and speech.

• Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and grip; rare climbing is required.
