Coder – Professional

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and promptly assigns diagnostic and procedural codes to medical records for standard patient categories.

• Examines medical records, superbills, and/or charge sheets to determine diagnoses and procedures, subsequently assigning ICD-10-CM codes.

• Identifies and allocates CPT-4 codes for outpatient procedures.

• Extracts diagnostic and procedural codes along with other relevant data into the network system.

• Reviews and oversees assigned work queues, physician note reports, and instances of missing documentation.

• Provides insights on specific problematic accounts to the Coding Supervisor.

• Collaborates with the Coding Supervisor, Physician, and Practice Manager to pinpoint and address documentation enhancement opportunities.

• Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in outpatient coding within a hospital and/or physician practice environment.

• Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.

• At least one of the following certifications is required: Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).

• Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computer systems.

• Proven attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills related to coding.
