High School Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary educator for students with special needs.

• Deliver instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process for self-contained and ALT students.

• Cater to the unique requirements of each student as outlined in their Individual Education Program (IEP).

• Track progress on IEP goals and maintain necessary service logs and compliance documentation.

• Collaborate with parents and colleagues on educational objectives, curriculum, and resources.

• Draft compliant IEPs, progress reports, and state-mandated special education documentation.

• Engage in collaborative meetings related to special education, including annual IEP discussions.

• Participate in Professional Learning Communities and ongoing professional development.

• Offer both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.

• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.

• Gather data and student work samples to assess progress towards IEP goals and objectives.

• Document communications with parents, collaborations with teachers, and student interventions.

• Utilize resources to implement accommodations and modifications, including assistive technology and accessible text.

• Provide special education services while supporting general education teachers and parents.

• Ensure student inclusion and success within the general education environment.

• Maintain grade books, assist with placement and promotion decisions, and inform administrators of performance issues.

• Prepare students for critical standardized tests.

• Build positive relationships with families and respond promptly to student and parent inquiries.

• Assist learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting.

• Support in-person student assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Required Certifications and Licenses: Texas Special Education and ESL preferred.

• Residency requirement: Texas.

• Capability to collaborate with fellow teachers to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for in-person student testing, professional development, or other school-related travel.

• Ability to pass the required background check.

• Experience working with self-contained and ALT students in the specified age group.

• Experience in supporting both adults and children with technology usage.

• Experience teaching in an online (virtual) setting and/or a traditional classroom environment.

• Familiarity with an online learning platform.
