This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Deliver targeted course content in a virtual setting
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance tailored to the individual needs outlined in students’ IEPs
• Ensure the provision of special education and associated services as determined by the IEP team
• Communicate with parents and related service personnel regarding student therapies
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary documentation for special education
• Facilitate and lead collaborative meetings for special education, including annual IEP sessions
• Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplementary curriculum, and accessible texts
• Adapt lessons and assessments in accordance with IEP specifications
• Ensure student inclusion and achievement in the general education environment
• Collect data and work samples to track progress toward IEP objectives
• Document parent communications and student interventions
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
• Maintain the grade book and make decisions regarding placement and promotion
• Prepare students for standardized assessments
• Foster positive relationships and maintain timely communication with families, students, and learning coaches/parents
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting
• Travel up to 20% for professional development, student assessments, or school obligations
• North Carolina Teaching Certification is mandatory
• Special Education endorsement is required
• Must be a resident of North Carolina
• Bachelor's degree is required
• Must possess an active state teaching license
• Ability to pass the necessary background check
• Capacity to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week
• Ability to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours
• Competence in collaborating with other educators and utilizing student data to inform instructional decisions
• Open to receiving regular coaching from administrators
• Ability to embrace change and adjust strategies to ensure outstanding student outcomes
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Capable of quickly learning and adapting to new technologies and teaching platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
