High School Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary educator for designated special education students.

• Deliver instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process for self-contained and ALT students based on individual IEP requirements.

• Track progress towards IEP objectives and maintain service logs alongside necessary compliance documentation.

• Work collaboratively with parents and colleagues to establish course objectives, curriculum, and materials.

• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and state-specific documentation for special education.

• Engage in collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP discussions.

• Participate in Professional Learning Communities and ongoing professional development.

• Offer both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.

• Assess student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.

• Join data analysis meetings to evaluate student growth.

• Gather data and work samples to track progress toward IEP goals and objectives.

• Record parent communications, teacher collaborations, and student interventions.

• Ensure accommodations and modifications through assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible materials.

• Provide special education services and assist teachers and parents with student accommodations.

• Promote inclusion and success within the general education classroom.

• Tailor learning experiences for all students.

• Maintain the grade book and contribute to decisions regarding placement and promotion.

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.

• Foster positive relationships with families and maintain timely communication with students and learning coaches/parents.

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.

• Facilitate in-person student testing.


⛳️ Requirements

• Required Certificates and Licenses: Texas Special Education and ESL preferred.

• Residency requirement: Texas.

• Capability to collaborate with other educators to interpret and generate numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, utilizing it to inform instructional decisions.

• Open to receiving regular coaching from administrators.

• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to achieve excellent student outcomes.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for in-person student testing, professional development, or other required travel.

• Capability to pass the necessary background check.

• Experience working with self-contained and ALT students within the specified age range.

• Background in supporting adults and children with technology usage.

• Experience teaching in online environments and/or traditional classroom settings.

• Familiarity with an online learning platform.
