This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +46 more states.
• Deliver specialized high school Social Studies course content in a virtual setting.
• Provide live, interactive instruction, support, and guidance.
• Oversee the learning process and cater to students’ individual requirements.
• Utilize knowledge of the K12 curriculum, Online School framework, state standards, and industry-specific learning benchmarks.
• Create instructional lessons in accordance with the school’s pacing guidelines.
• Develop educational tools and strategies to enhance and supplement the curriculum.
• Maintain regular contact with students via email or phone.
• Respond to student and school-related inquiries, typically within one business day.
• Participate in academic meetings with relevant school administrators.
• Attend scheduled virtual staff meetings consistently.
• Establish and maintain a positive relationship with students.
• Monitor and report on students' academic performance and pacing progress.
• Generate formal reports and notify administrators regarding student progress and attendance issues.
• Organize orientation, training, social, and educational events for students and their families.
• Create a monthly newsletter or update the website as required.
• Lead student and parent orientations as necessary.
• Assess students in accordance with policy.
• Occasionally travel to school events, including state testing, as needed.
• Valid state Department of Education High School (9-12) Social Studies Teaching Certification is required.
• Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of industry experience leading to certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Appropriate subject teaching certification.
• Willingness and capability to obtain additional state licensing as needed.
• Strong content and subject-matter expertise.
• Ability to support and guide both adults and students.
• Excellent understanding of motivational techniques.
• Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to pass the required background check.
• Must be a resident of one of the 50 states or Washington, D.C.
• High-speed internet connection: minimum 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload; satellite, DSL, data plans, wireless, and dial-up services are not compatible.
• Ability to work typically 20–25 hours per week, with potential for fewer or additional hours based on business needs.
• Ability to work during daytime business hours, 8am–5pm ET, Monday–Friday, as required.
