This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Deliver specialized high school science course material for grades 9–12 in a virtual setting.
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process.
• Concentrate on the individual needs of students and track their progress through the learning management system.
• Collaborate closely with students and parents/Learning Coaches to facilitate learning towards established objectives.
• Take responsibility for student academic progress and attendance.
• Prepare students for significant standardized assessments.
• Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours each week.
• Offer asynchronous support, including emails, course objective planning, learning plans, and data-driven assessments of student needs.
• Collaborate on instructional strategies, resources, interventions, student data, and professional development opportunities.
• Enhance course content under administrative guidance by utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous tools.
• Submit grades and required student work while ensuring academic integrity and honesty.
• Maintain the grade book accurately.
• Make placement and promotion decisions based on formal and informal student progress reports.
• Establish positive relationships with families and communicate regularly with students and parents/Learning Coaches.
• Assist students and Learning Coaches with basic computer inquiries when requested.
• Work in collaboration with teachers to monitor student progress and distribute stakeholder responsibilities.
• Respond promptly to students, parents, and colleagues.
• Organize social and educational activities, including virtual clubs, outings, and extracurricular events.
• Travel to testing locations to supervise state examinations.
• Adhere to school policies, procedures, and relevant laws.
• Foster community, support onboarding initiatives, and participate in required committees.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Six (6) months of student teaching experience.
• Ohio State Teaching Certification for High School Science (Integrated Science preferred).
• Fulfill the requirements for a licensed teacher as specified by the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code.
• Possess pedagogical knowledge of the content being taught and the ability to apply critical thinking skills.
• Familiarity with state content standards.
• Capability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
• Ability to resolve problems independently while maintaining a high level of organization.
• Capacity to work autonomously, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional home office environment free from distractions during the workday.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, averaging once per month and/or approximately 10% of the time.
• Access to reliable high-speed internet.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Capability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours along with fluency in technology systems, programs, and curriculum.
• Ability to successfully pass required background checks.
• $2,000 sign-on bonus.
