Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Safely and legally operate Air Methods aircraft.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections prior to each flight and confirm aircraft airworthiness through the Daily Flight Log.

• Perform thorough walk-arounds of the aircraft before entering the cockpit and after every flight.

• Retain final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Maintain knowledge of aircraft and medical systems for backup aircraft.

• Ensure that the medical flight team is well-acquainted and comfortable with the medical interior and its systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Execute detailed flight planning under tight timelines to high standards.

• Engage in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.

• Transport medical personnel and patients to receiving hospitals within the designated operational area.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Must fulfill the requirements of the 29 Palms contract.

• Weight must not exceed 250 pounds.

• Must be under seventy (70) years old.

• Must have flown in the specified category within the past 24 months.

• A total of 2000 flight hours is required, with a minimum of 1500 flight hours in the specified category.

• A minimum of 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in the specified category.

• At least 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including a minimum of 50 hours at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night flight time as PIC, adhering to specified NVG substitution rules.

• 50 hours of actual or hood instrument time in flight and in the specified category, with fixed-wing substitution rules applicable.

• 250 PIC hours in an EC-145/BK-117/H-145 for the Twentynine Palms contract.

• Maintain a minimum of 100 PIC hours annually.

• An instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft is required (ATP rating in the category satisfies this requirement).

• A fixed-wing multi-engine rating is required for twin-engine aircraft.

• A commercial single-engine land certification is required for single-engine aircraft.

• A First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate is mandatory.

• Regularly scheduled attendance on a 14/14 schedule with 12-hour shifts is expected.
