Heavy Equipment Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Jamaica.

📋 Description

• Safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy construction machinery.

• Execute tasks such as excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, loading, material handling, and site preparation.

• Interpret grade stakes, construction plans, site markings, and surveying references accurately.

• Set and uphold necessary grades and elevations.

• Carry out pre-trip, post-trip, and daily inspections of equipment.

• Detect and report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, and safety issues.

• Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, lubrication, and cleaning routines.

• Adhere to project specifications, follow supervisor directives, and comply with established work plans.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, project safety protocols, environmental laws, and company policies.

• Maintain safety while working around utilities, underground infrastructure, structures, and other hazards present at the job site.

• Assist labor crews and other field personnel as required.

• Keep accurate equipment logs, inspection reports, and daily activity documentation.

• Provide support for emergency response efforts, disaster recovery, and debris management activities.

• Engage in safety meetings, toolbox discussions, and necessary training programs.

• Operate equipment such as hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, wheel loaders, skid steers, motor graders, compactors and rollers, telehandlers, articulated dump trucks, and water trucks.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of experience in operating heavy construction equipment.

• Proficient understanding of grade reading, basic surveying references, and site layout controls.

• Knowledgeable in excavation, grading, and earthmoving operations.

• Capable of safely operating various types of construction machinery.

• Ability to read and comprehend construction plans, drawings, and project specifications.

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

• Heavy equipment operator certification(s) as required or applicable.

• Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings, including background checks and drug testing when necessary.

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
