Heavy Duty Equipment Technician – 421A

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on CTOS equipment in the field.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair utility trucks and specialized equipment in both shop and field settings.

• Execute preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing.

• Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, repair orders, and technical documentation.

• Use laptops and diagnostic software to identify and resolve equipment issues.

• Service and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.

• Carry out inspections and complete repairs in accordance with CTOS standards.

• Verify repairs and conduct road tests on equipment when necessary.

• Accurately complete inspection reports, repair orders, timecards, and service documentation.

• Tag and process warranty and core return parts.

• Communicate repair progress and additional repair needs to management.

• Professionally engage with customers to minimize downtime and enhance equipment uptime.

• Participate in CTOS and manufacturer-sponsored safety and technical training.

• Comply with all federal, provincial, and local safety and environmental regulations.

• Support customer satisfaction initiatives and foster positive customer relationships.

• Travel outside the primary territory as business needs arise.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Travel to customer locations across Northern Ontario.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside in the Greater Sudbury or Timmins, Ontario area.

• Ontario Journeyperson Skilled Trades Certificate or Red Seal certification is required.

• A valid Class G or Class D driver's license is necessary.

• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.

• Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting skills are essential.

• Must provide personal hand tools.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.

• CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) experience is preferred.

• Experience in hydraulic and electrical diagnostics is preferred.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints is preferred.

• Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with QuickServe, DTNA, or similar diagnostic software is preferred.

• ANSI and Dielectric Testing certifications or experience are preferred.

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in Heavy Equipment, or a related trade is preferred.

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, are necessary.

• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.

• Ability to safely lift and maneuver tools and parts is essential.

• Capability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in various weather conditions.

• Approximately 75% overnight travel throughout Northern Ontario is expected.

• Primarily Monday through Friday work schedule.
