Heavy Duty Equipment Technician – 421A

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Carry out maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on CTOS equipment, including bucket trucks, boom trucks, aerial lift equipment, digger derricks, forestry equipment, hi-rail equipment, utility and vocational trucks, as well as related hydraulic, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair utility trucks and specialized equipment in both shop and field settings.

• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing.

• Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, repair orders, and technical documents.

• Utilize laptops and diagnostic software to identify and resolve equipment issues effectively.

• Service and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.

• Perform inspections and complete repairs in accordance with CTOS standards.

• Verify repairs and conduct road tests on equipment as necessary.

• Accurately complete inspection reports, repair orders, timecards, and service documentation.

• Tag and process warranty and core return parts appropriately.

• Communicate repair progress and additional repair requirements to management.

• Engage professionally with customers to minimize downtime and enhance equipment uptime.

• Participate in CTOS and manufacturer-sponsored safety and technical training sessions.

• Comply with all federal, provincial, and local safety and environmental regulations.

• Support customer satisfaction initiatives and foster positive customer relationships.

• Travel outside the primary territory as needed for business requirements.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Travel to customer locations throughout Northern Ontario.

⛳️ Requirements

• Reside in the Greater Sudbury or Timmins, Ontario area.

• Hold an Ontario Journeyperson Skilled Trades Certificate or Red Seal certification.

• Possess a valid Class G or Class D driver's license.

• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

• Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and troubleshooting.

• Must provide personal hand tools.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) experience is preferred.

• Experience in hydraulic and electrical diagnostics is preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints is preferred.

• Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with QuickServe, DTNA, or similar diagnostic software is preferred.

• ANSI and Dielectric Testing certifications or experience is preferred.

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in Heavy Equipment or a related trade is preferred.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Capability to lift and maneuver tools and parts safely.

• Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in diverse weather conditions.

• Approximately 75% overnight travel throughout Northern Ontario, primarily from Monday to Friday.
