Heavy Duty Equipment Technician – 421A

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on CTOS equipment, which includes Bucket Trucks, Boom Trucks, Aerial Lift Equipment, Digger Derricks, Forestry Equipment, Hi-Rail Equipment, Utility and Vocational Trucks, as well as related hydraulic, electrical, and diesel-powered machinery.

• Operate independently to resolve complex equipment challenges in the field.

• Travel to client locations across Northern Ontario.

• Anticipate approximately 75% overnight travel within Northern Ontario, primarily from Monday to Friday; return home most weekends.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix utility trucks and specialized equipment in both shop and field settings.

• Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing.

• Read and comprehend equipment manuals, schematics, repair orders, and technical documentation.

• Employ laptops and diagnostic software to detect and address equipment issues.

• Service and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.

• Perform inspections and complete repairs in accordance with CTOS standards.

• Verify repairs and conduct road tests on equipment as necessary.

• Accurately complete inspection reports, repair orders, timecards, and service documentation.

• Tag and process warranty and core return parts.

• Communicate the progress of repairs and any additional repair requirements to management.

• Engage with customers professionally to reduce downtime and enhance equipment uptime.

• Partake in CTOS and manufacturer-sponsored safety and technical training.

• Comply with all federal, provincial, and local safety and environmental regulations.

• Contribute to customer satisfaction initiatives and foster positive customer relationships.

• Travel outside the primary territory as business needs necessitate.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Support North America's utility, forestry, telecommunications, construction, rail, and energy sectors through specialized truck and heavy equipment solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess an Ontario Journeyperson Skilled Trades Certificate or Red Seal certification.

• Hold a valid Class G or Class D driver's license.

• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

• Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting.

• Must provide personal hand tools.

• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

• CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) experience is preferred.

• Experience in hydraulic and electrical diagnostics is preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints is preferred.

• Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with QuickServe, DTNA, or comparable diagnostic software is preferred.

• ANSI and Dielectric Testing certifications or experience are preferred.

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in Heavy Equipment or a related trade is preferred.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Capability to lift and handle tools and parts safely.

• Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in various weather conditions.

• Candidates should reside in the Greater Sudbury or Timmins, Ontario area.
