Healthcare Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing Python (pandas) and SQL.

• Retrieve data from Amazon S3, APIs, Salesforce, and internal databases.

• Write efficient SQL in Amazon Redshift, encompassing DDL, DML, and stored procedures.

• Oversee schemas, views, permissions, and table evolution securely.

• Troubleshoot production data issues and performance constraints.

• Ensure the quality, freshness, lineage, and observability of data.

• Clearly document pipelines and datasets.

• Implement necessary safeguards for sensitive and regulated information, including PHI and PII.

• Transition legacy cron-based workflows to robust orchestration frameworks.

• Develop idempotent, retry-safe, and production-ready jobs.

• Enhance pipeline reliability and monitoring practices.

• Utilize Git for version control and CI-friendly development processes.

• Collaborate with Analytics and Data Science teams to deliver clean, modeled datasets.

• Support BI tools, reporting workflows, and integrations with Google Sheets.

• Adhere to internal SLAs regarding data quality and delivery frequency.

• Provide expert assistance for complex data integration issues.

• Create lightweight AI-powered utilities such as metadata extraction, SQL generation, and anomaly explanation.

• Integrate LLM APIs into current data workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.

• Proficient in Python (dataframes, file I/O, APIs).

• Strong SQL proficiency, including warehouse-specific optimization techniques.

• Practical experience with AWS (S3, IAM, Redshift).

• Familiarity with using APIs for data ingestion and system integration.

• Proficient in Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Comfortable working with imperfect data and legacy systems.

• Preferred: Experience transitioning from cron to modern orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or similar).

• Preferred: Knowledge of Salesforce API integrations.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Google Drive / Google Sheets APIs.

• Preferred: Exposure to LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).

• Preferred: Experience handling healthcare data (claims, eligibility, CDAs/HRAs).

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with Data Scientists to productionalize models.

• Preferred: Experience with tools such as Matillion, Mulesoft, or similar.
