This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi, +1 more state.
• Accurately and efficiently handle release-of-information requests, particularly those related to medical records.
• Protect patient confidentiality and ensure that releases align with authorizations, company policies, and HIPAA regulations.
• Receive and process patient health information requests in accordance with company and facility guidelines.
• Uphold the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Maintain a proficient understanding of company and facility software.
• Comply with company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies.
• Communicate site challenges, work issues, and variations in workload to the manager.
• Oversee patient health records, ensuring adherence to HIPAA standards.
• Create new patient charts utilizing both paper and electronic health record resources.
• Assemble comprehensive and accurate medical records in the prescribed order.
• Generate digital images of documents for electronic medical records.
• Retrieve and send patient records to both internal and external requesters appropriately.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys.
• Provide assistance with patient walk-ins, faxes, mail handling, data entry, and scheduling pickups as necessary.
• Meet productivity expectations specific to the site.
• Perform additional assigned tasks.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to travel between locations as necessary.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods as needed.
• Basic proficiency in computer operations.
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment regularly.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Detail-oriented and focused on ensuring accurate and compliant medical record information.
• Strong skills in data entry.
• Capable of working independently while adapting to changing priorities and role requirements.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Capable of responding to requests in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a healthcare setting (preferred but not required).
• Previous experience in production or metric-based roles (preferred but not required).
• In-person customer service experience (preferred but not required).
• Ability to foster relationships with on-site clients and customers (preferred but not required).
• Comfortable proposing new ideas, process improvements, and feedback to internal stakeholders (preferred but not required).
