
Health Information Specialist I – Entry Level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +4 more states.
• Accurately and efficiently process requests for patient health information and medical record releases.
• Ensure patient privacy is protected while adhering to HIPAA regulations, company policies, facility guidelines, and authorizations.
• Oversee the management of patient health records and the preparation of new patient charts.
• Accurately assemble medical records in a complete and standard order.
• Create digital images of documentation for inclusion in electronic medical records.
• Retrieve and send patient records to both internal and external requesters.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Utilize company and facility software to document information across various platforms.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls and assist patients who walk in.
• Perform administrative tasks, including faxing, mailing, data entry, and scheduling pickups.
• Communicate with the manager regarding work progress, site challenges, and varying workloads.
• Meet site-specific productivity standards and carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to commute between locations as necessary.
• Availability to work overtime during peak periods is essential.
• Basic proficiency in computer use is necessary.
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment on a regular basis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
• Excellent data entry skills are essential.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities is required.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks are necessary.
• Must be able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet productivity expectations is essential.
• This position is not eligible for employment sponsorship.
• Experience in a healthcare setting, production/metric-based roles, in-person customer service, building relationships with on-site clients, and process improvement is advantageous.
