This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.
• Accurately and efficiently handle release-of-information requests and medical record inquiries.
• Manage inbound and outbound communications with patients, insurance providers, and legal representatives.
• Provide updates on the status of medical record requests.
• Document information across various platforms utilizing dual computer monitors.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Implement medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosures.
• Oversee, protect, and maintain patient health records in line with HIPAA regulations.
• Create new patient charts using both paper and electronic health record systems.
• Organize medical records in standard order and confirm their accuracy and completeness.
• Generate digital images of documents for storage in electronic medical records.
• Retrieve and properly send patient records to both internal and external requestors.
• Support patient walk-ins and perform administrative tasks such as faxing, mailing, and data entry.
• Notify the manager regarding work challenges, site issues, and variable workloads.
• Achieve site-specific productivity goals.
• Schedule pickups as necessary.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to commute between locations as needed.
• Availability to work overtime during peak periods when necessary.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills.
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accurate and compliant medical record information.
• Excellent data entry capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Skilled at organizing and managing multiple tasks.
• Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced setting.
• Not eligible for employment sponsorship.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
• Prior experience in production or metric-based roles is an advantage.
• Customer service experience in person is a bonus.
• Ability to foster relationships with on-site clients and customers is a plus.
• Capability to provide process-improvement suggestions and feedback to internal stakeholders is an advantage.
• Comprehensive onsite/virtual training program followed by job shadowing with a designated mentor.
