Health Information Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota.

📋 Description

• Work from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

• Accurately process legal certification and subpoena requests in compliance with privacy regulations.

• Receive and handle patient health information requests following company and facility protocols.

• Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of company and facility software.

• Follow company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies diligently.

• Communicate with the manager regarding work-related issues, site challenges, and varying workloads.

• Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

• Consistently apply medical privacy regulations to avoid unauthorized disclosures.

• Manage and protect patient health records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• Prepare new patient charts using both paper and electronic health record systems.

• Accurately and completely assemble medical records in the standard order.

• Create digital images of documents for electronic medical records.

• Retrieve and send patient records to both internal and external requesters.

• Handle inbound and outbound phone calls.

• Assist with patient walk-ins.

• Manage faxes, mail, data entry, and scheduling for pickups as needed.

• Meet specific productivity expectations for the site.

• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Ability to commute between different locations as required.

• Available to work overtime during busy seasons when necessary.

• Basic proficiency in computer skills.

• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment on a regular basis.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• This position does not qualify for employment sponsorship.

• Post-offer health screenings and necessary or applicable vaccinations may be required.

• Experience in a healthcare setting is a bonus.

• Previous work experience in production or metric-based roles is a bonus.

• In-person customer service experience is a bonus.
