Head of Trading Risk Engine, Crypto Perpetuals

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Develop and manage the trading risk engine for a cryptocurrency perpetuals proprietary trading firm.

• Oversee the trading-book risk appetite and exposure across different instruments, strategies, cohorts, and correlated groups.

• Establish rules for funded accounts, review payouts, forecast liabilities, and handle reserves management.

• Categorize traders as profitable, toxic, fraudulent, coordinated, or correlated.

• Determine whether to simulate, internalize, match, or hedge exposure.

• Maintain relationships with venues, liquidity providers, and market makers.

• Create A/B/hybrid routing strategies and decide when exposure should remain internal or be hedged externally.

• Analyze shadow P&L after accounting for fees, funding, spreads, slippage, and execution costs.

• Set parameters such as leverage, margin, instruments, spreads, mark-ups, and trading conditions.

• Monitor execution metrics, fills, rejections, pricing anomalies, market gaps, and incidents.

• Identify toxic flow, latency arbitrage, coordinated trading, multi-account abuse, and payout exploitation.

• Lead initiatives to respond to market volatility, technical failures, and concentrated exposure risks.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to develop systems and assess product changes.

• Establish pricing, limits, monitoring, routing, hedging, and phased rollout strategies.

• Build and shape the future risk and dealing team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience in trading risk, dealing, or related fields is preferred.

• Background in funded trading, retail FX/CFDs, cryptocurrency derivatives, proprietary trading, or market-making.

• Understanding of perpetuals, leverage, margin, liquidation, funding, microstructure, A/B-book management, hedging, routing, and liquidity providers.

• Proficiency in analyzing behavior and abuse using SQL and Python.

• Capability to translate risk logic into requirements for product and engineering teams.

• Commercially minded, creative, and decisive in high-volatility situations.

• Ability to ensure legitimate payouts and profitability without imposing blanket restrictions.

• Experience in live-exposure ownership and execution.

• Skill in working with data, engineers, and imperfect systems.

• Willingness to make timely decisions regarding the trading book.
