This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand, +1 more country.
• Lead and oversee the Science department across all CGA educational formats.
• Maintain consistently high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Conduct learning walks, lesson observations, and review recordings, while providing feedback and coaching.
• Facilitate department meetings focused on teaching practices, curriculum development, student progress, and professional growth.
• Mentor, onboard, and develop teachers, including those new to da Vinci.
• Support teacher performance through professional development cycles, evaluations, and targeted interventions.
• Guide curriculum planning and reviews in alignment with applicable A-Level specifications and international standards.
• Keep the team updated on changes in curriculum and examination board requirements.
• Oversee preparation for internal and external examinations, including moderation and post-exam analysis.
• Ensure compliance with JCQ and relevant examination board standards.
• Utilize assessment and benchmarking data to track student progress and identify opportunities for intervention or extension.
• Collaborate with teachers, Deans, and the Inclusion Manager to support students needing additional academic assistance.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex academic issues and engage with parents when further support is necessary.
• Review student reports and ensure timely, high-quality academic feedback.
• Advocate for excellent digital pedagogy and effective use of CGA learning platforms.
• Collaborate with leaders in digital learning and emerging technologies on innovative teaching strategies.
• Support the recruitment, induction, and continuous development of departmental staff.
• Teach classes as assigned by the Principal and exemplify outstanding classroom practices.
• Participate in parent evenings, school events, professional development, and broader CGA initiatives.
• Report directly to the Principal.
• Allocate 10 release periods from a total of 22 teaching periods.
• Qualified and experienced secondary teacher with in-depth subject knowledge.
• Experienced or emerging academic leader capable of inspiring and developing others.
• Strong comprehension of A-Level curriculum, assessment, and examination standards.
• Experience with international examination programs is highly desirable.
• Proficient in utilizing student performance data to guide teaching, intervention, and departmental strategies.
• Skilled in curriculum development, assessment planning, and quality assurance processes.
• Comfortable providing constructive feedback, coaching, and performance support to teachers.
• Confident in using digital learning platforms and online teaching methods.
• Passionate about innovative education and the effective integration of emerging technologies.
• Excellent communicator capable of building strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, and senior leaders.
